Hello,
My name is Andrew Nielsen and I am attempting to get a second kidney transplant. Figured I would get the heavy stuff out of the way in the beginning then follow up with some softer stuff to cushion the blow. I was diagnosed on August 22, 2014, at the age of 19, with total renal failure. I began dialysis the same day and Had to endure that for 9 months until I finally got a transplant on May 11, 2015. For all of you Math Majors out there, that would be my first kidney transplant, until February 22, 2016 that is. This is the day I was diagnosed with rejection. I underwent treatment and the rejection was thought to have been beaten. I caught some sort of infection that attacked and damaged the transplanted kidney even more and put it out of commission. Now I am back on dialysis, looking for that next kidney. I probably should have created a blog a while ago when I originally got sick, but I decided against it because I just didn’t feel like investing the work or that anyone would care about my story. Hopefully by telling my story, someone somewhere can be strengthened and make this journey all worth something.
Didn’t think it was possible to be any prouder of you, until now!
